XVIII, entre 1742 i 1750, sobre la primitiva esgl\u00e9sia g\u00f2tica, que es tractava d&#8217;un edifici fortificat incl\u00f2s dins de la muralla. Compta amb una planta de tres naus amb creuer cobert per volta esf\u00e8rica. En el transagrari es conserven unes originals pintures al fresc i en l&#8217;exterior poden veure&#8217;s unes singulars petites escultures inserides en els seus murs, originals del primitiu temple. Existien quatre portes que comunicaven la vila amb l&#8217;exterior. Actualment poden contemplar-se encara diversos trams en un acceptable estat, aix\u00ed com algunes de les torres. Aquest lloc correspon hist\u00f2ricament a una antiga pla\u00e7a d&#8217;armes del desaparegut castell medieval de Portell, del qual encara podem observar les diferents espitlleres defensives del recinte emmurallat.
